Experience
I have over 5 years experience tutoring and assessing students' skills. I have acquired nearly 10 years of recent experience working with students from diverse backgrounds; including grades K-12 as well as at-risk and special needs students. I have 5 years experience substitute teaching. I typically conduct a pre-assessment/testing to determine your/students skill(s) level. This enables me to plan the best course of action to effect change, and success for the student. It is vitally important that students get the basic understanding of the principles and the steps for the processes of math in the elementary grades or they will have problems in the future. It is best to make the investment in their learning early rather than later. You should look on this as an opportunity to invest in their futures. The same applies for reading/comprehension and language arts. Studies have proven, and support, that students that do not develop basic reading skills by the third grade have problems in the classroom in all subjects. I, also, have over 20 years experience in preparing and submitting grants. I have composed grant applications for training grants for private businesses; community and economic development for municipalities; worked with churches and local agencies; and prepared/writing grants for job creation and retaining local jobs. Please contact me if your agency, church, business and/or municipality needs assistance with grant writing, reporting, monitoring, budgeting and building/creating relations with rewarding agencies.

Hobbies
I enjoy working with young people and watching them grow and develop. My favorite subjects are math and reading. My second favorite interest is golf. I am a long-time sports fanatic, and turned to golf in the last few years. I played sports in high school and college, and have been a Cubs and White Sox fan, Bears and Colts fan for years. I shoot in the 80's and have taught golf to beginners and intermediates. Most golfers are struggling to break 100, and this is well within reach once you understand the swing. I also coach golf when the weather permits, and have experienced good results from my students of all ages.
